Parcel Repacking & Consolidation Guide

Plan retail-box removal, protection and final packed measurements before consolidating purchases from China.

YOUR PACKING PLAN

What to keep, remove or protect.

01

Retain what has a purpose

Name gift boxes, resale packaging, labels and original cartons needed for returns. Some packaging protects the product and should not be removed simply to make a smaller parcel.

02

Remove redundant outer packaging

Discuss seller shipping cartons and excess void fill separately from retail packaging. Fragile, sharp or pressure-sensitive goods may still need separation and cushioning.

03

Group goods sensibly

Separate incompatible, fragile or easily marked items. A split shipment can make more sense than one heavy carton.

04

Review the packed result

Compare the old and new outer dimensions, actual packed weight, materials and handling charges. Approve the arrangement only after the goods and final shipment details are clear.

Why a smaller box does not guarantee lower shipping costs.

Volumetric weight measures space; actual weight measures mass. If actual weight remains the higher value, reducing volume may not reduce the weight used for billing. Minimum charges, rounding and handling can also change the result.

A useful packing record

RecordWhy it helps
Before packingTracking references, goods and retail boxes to retain; photos and measurements requested for the parcels.
After packingFinal outer dimensions and actual weight, with photographs agreed for the arrangement.
ApprovalConfirmed materials, costs, recipient details and the outbound shipment reference.

Discuss the packing your goods need.

Share your destination, item list and the handling you need so the arrangement and costs can be discussed.
